Why do I travel?
To remind myself that I am alive, to see all there is to see this wonderful planet has to offer. To immerse myself amongst other cultures. To sit in cosy cafes with a book and read and people watch. To see the pure happiness of others in different countries and realise we are all really one and the same. To eat. All. The. Food.
Working in health care since the age of eighteen, I have seen many lives cut short unexpectedly or changed in an instant. So I made a promise to myself that while I am still here and capable, I will endeavour to live life to the fullest.
What got me started? My parents used to take myself and two siblings on many camping trips around Australia while we were in primary school. We had one three month trip from home on the NSW and VIC border up the east coast of Australia into QLD and NT and then back down through the Red Centre. We swam in amazing waterfalls, saw Uluru, explored hot springs and national parks, and that started a small fire in me.
When I was ten years old, they took us all to Europe. What was once a small smouldering fire, suddenly ignited into a roaring blaze. All through high school I dreamed of travel and adventure and then pursued it throughout my days at University and it’s continued.
