Nicole in one of her happy places - in the snow, in Japan. It’s not specifically Japan that is her happy place, but anywhere there is snow. In her words:

‘This image was captured during heavy snowfall and it was so wonderful. I look silly, given I have a helmet under the hood of my jacket, but I was so happy! I’ve been skiing for over 50 years and I’m always happy when surrounded by snow. Unlike rain, snow falls silently and as it settles it seems to absorb all sound - it’s a silence you can hear!’

I’ve been travelling for over 50 years. I love travelling and capturing the places I visit through my images. From a young age, my inquisitive nature was encouraged.

Growing up in Australia, holidays were simple carefree adventures. Camping and fishing on the New South Wales south coast or skiing in the Snowy Mountains,  staying at the ski lodge my parents built with their friends during the 1960s!

In February 1976, aged ten, my family set off on a four-month ‘camping’ holiday through Europe in a rented old van.

Campsites ranged from truck stops off autobahns to a small patch at a camping ground or the expansive manicured gardens of a French chateau!

1970’s Europe was very different to now. Eastern European countries borders were closed, and the ancient ruins of Rome and Athens were literally a child’s playground.  I’m sure clambering amongst the ruins of the Acropolis is where my love of travel to places near and far, was realised.

With my own family of five, we’ve travelled across Australia and to some parts of the world. It was a trip to Morocco in 2018 that led me to pursue my love of travel,  photography and sharing stories with others.
