Travel is a way to gain perspective; to escape; and to recharge. As an always on, always moving, hungry for what’s next type gal, a new place forces me to slow down and allows me the space to confirm the path I’m charging down resonates with my values. 

In my experience, travel is the means by which people grow their appreciation for the diversity (and beauty!) of our planet and its inhabitants. It’s a way I’ve been able to challenge my perspectives and preconceived notions to ultimately change my perception.  

I grew up in a neighborhood of Atlanta where the Centers for Disease Control, Emory University and the International Rescue Committee fed into the same school system. The combination of international organizations contributed to a massively diverse student population (80 languages were spoken at my high school!). In first grade I had a classmate from Mongolia and I remember learning about Siberia from her family and thinking to myself (at six!)  “that sounds realllllly different.” I’ve been motivated to seek out and appreciate “reallllly different” ever since.
