I don’t want to bore you with an overused quote, but sometimes it fits the bill. “Once the travel bug bites there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life”  – Michael Palin gets it.

My theory is that travel, like all of life, is made up of associations. But how often in life are your daily associations as positive and carefree as they are when you are travelling, and you are somewhere undoubtedly intriguing, almost certainly beautiful and likely without obligation?

I associate travel with happiness - whether it’s nature or nurture I can’t say, but it’s impossible not to  enjoy browsing a Hungarian Christmas market, drinking in a Thai sunrise or wandering down a Hawaiian volcano.

For me travel is an addictive blur of excitement and fun and learning and escape, and nothing makes me happier than meeting new people in beautiful places and living outside my home bubble for a while.

I began with an overused quote so I might as well end with one: ‘The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page’. I don’t know who said this, but they really get it too.
